Micro-Community
What is La Paz Micro-Community?
Neighborhoods of small units with a/c and heat
24-hour staff and security, bathrooms and sanitation services, food
Wrap around supportive services (case management, housing navigation, meeting space, office space, etc.)
One step on the way to permanent housing
A Temporary Managed Community is defined in the Denver Zoning Code as “Residential occupancy of multiple relocatable Temporary Structures or multiple spaces for parked Motor Vehicles providing sleeping accommodations, which may be combined with one or more separate structures containing housekeeping accommodations and/or work spaces for operational staff, all located on the same Zone Lot. A Micro-community is a Temporary Managed Community use– both terms may be used in relation to this site.
What is the purpose of the Micro Community?
Connect unsheltered people living on the streets to services and supports
Provide a path from homelessness to stable housing
Help make everyone safer
Locations
CVC is contracting with the City and County of Denver to operate a micro-communities site at 2301 S. Santa Fe Drive, Denver, CO 80223, with an anticipated launch date of March 2024.
The Model
Staffed 24 hours per day by Colorado Village Collaborative
Outreach and case management
Up to 50 individualized shelters, serving a maximum of 60 people
Resident placement conducted through street outreach and referrals
Food provided through partnerships with faith community and existing food service providers
Shelters, cots, and sleeping bags provided to residents at entry
Outreach & Supportive Services
These spaces will expand outreach to people not accessing existing services, creating equitable links to hotels, health care, and ongoing case management and housing resources.
